2. Summary

Pedal Cue is designed so that the data required for a ride is generally processed on the Apple devices you use. Pedal Cue does not require a separate user account and does not operate its own cloud backend for ride, health, location, or training data.

Based on the current product state, the app does not include advertising, tracking, or its own analytics or telemetry collection. In the V1 described here, ride data is not transferred to Strava.

Apple system services such as HealthKit, Apple Watch, location services, and StoreKit may process data outside Pedal Cue's local app storage. The relevant data is described in the sections below.

3. Local app data

Depending on how you use the app, Pedal Cue stores information locally including rides and ride summaries, ride time and distance, recorded routes, training plans, target ranges and zones, settings, and technical recovery state.

This data is used to provide the ride, training, navigation, and history functions you request. Local data generally remains until you delete it in the app or remove the app or its local data, subject to the behaviour of the operating system.

4. HealthKit and Apple Watch

Pedal Cue can use HealthKit and Apple Watch for cycling workouts. Depending on the feature and the permissions you grant, the app may read or write workout data, heart rate, cadence, and power. Permissions are controlled through Apple's system interfaces and can be changed in Apple Health or Settings.

Pedal Cue does not use this data for advertising, tracking, or profiling and does not transfer it to a Pedal Cue cloud backend. Apple Health is a separate Apple data store.

When you delete a ride in Pedal Cue, the app requests deletion of the related HealthKit workout. Data already stored in Apple Health is also subject to Apple's storage and deletion mechanisms. Removing the app therefore does not automatically remove all data already stored in Apple Health.

5. Location

Pedal Cue uses location data for GPS speed, distance, route recording, and active navigation. During an active ride, background location may also be used where you have granted permission and where it is technically required.

The recorded route is stored locally. In the V1 described here, the route is not transferred to Strava or to a Pedal Cue cloud backend.

6. Bike sensors

Pedal Cue can process values from supported heart-rate, cadence, speed, and power sensors for live ride and training functions. Where supported and permitted, relevant values may be included in a HealthKit workout.

Sensor support can depend on the device, firmware, and connection.

7. Apple Foundation Models

For features that use Apple's Foundation Models, Pedal Cue uses the SystemLanguageModel available on the device. Pedal Cue does not operate its own AI backend and does not store prompts or responses in its own cloud.

Processing within Apple's systems is subject to Apple's technical characteristics and privacy terms.

8. MusicKit

MusicKit is used only to control ongoing Apple Music playback. Pedal Cue does not maintain its own music library and does not create its own user profile from music playback.

9. StoreKit and Pedal Cue Pro

Purchases and payment processing are handled by Apple. Pedal Cue does not receive credit-card or other payment-instrument data. The app processes only the StoreKit or entitlement status required to unlock a purchased feature.

10. Support

If you contact us voluntarily, we process the contact details and message content you provide, together with standard email metadata where required to handle your request.

Support requests are deleted once they are no longer needed to handle the request and no statutory retention obligation applies. Contact: hello@usefulmagic.de.

Processing required to provide the app and ride functions you request is based on Article 6(1)(b) GDPR. Where Pedal Cue processes health and fitness data, that processing additionally relies on your explicit consent under Article 9(2)(a) GDPR. HealthKit permission controls the technical access to the data types you choose to share and can be changed in Apple Health or Settings. Processing of location data for the ride or navigation function you request is based on Article 6(1)(b) GDPR and requires the relevant operating-system permission.

Voluntary support requests are processed under Article 6(1)(b) GDPR where this is necessary to handle the request. Statutory retention obligations may require processing under Article 6(1)(c) GDPR.

Local rides can be deleted in Pedal Cue. For HealthKit workouts, Pedal Cue requests deletion of the related workout through its existing deletion flow. Data in Apple Health can also be managed through Apple's interfaces. There is no Pedal Cue user account to delete because no such account is created.

Where the applicable legal requirements are met, you have rights including access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability. You may withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future; withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data-protection supervisory authority. To exercise your rights, email hello@usefulmagic.de.

12. Website and hosting

This privacy policy covers the Pedal Cue app. Visits to usefulmagic.de are covered by the website privacy policy, including the hosting and WebAnalytics processing described there.

13. Changes

This privacy policy may be updated if Pedal Cue, its technical features, or legal requirements change.
