Sear Cue is designed to be privacy conscious and data minimal. It helps display grill temperature data and provide clear next-step guidance during a grilling session.

Based on the current product state, Sear Cue is designed to operate without advertising and without cross-app or cross-website tracking. The app data and Apple system services that may be involved are described below.

Sear Cue may store data locally on the user's device so that active grilling sessions, settings, and history can be restored. If iCloud backup is used, app data may be synchronized through Apple iCloud services. Apple's own privacy terms apply to processing by Apple.

Based on the current product state, grilling sessions are not transmitted to a Useful Magic server.

6. Bluetooth

Sear Cue uses Bluetooth to discover selected compatible grill thermometer setups and receive temperature readings. Compatibility can vary by device, firmware, and connection.

7. Notifications, Live Activities, Widgets, and Apple Watch

Sear Cue may use Apple system features to show local guidance, notifications, Live Activities, widgets, or Apple Watch information. Apple system services may be technically involved where these features are used.

8. Purchases and subscriptions

If Sear Cue offers paid features or subscriptions through the App Store, purchase processing and management are handled through Apple system services. Apple's privacy terms apply to processing by Apple.

9. Advertising and tracking

Based on the current product concept, Sear Cue is not intended to use advertising networks or track users across apps or websites.

Local app data and app data synchronized through iCloud remain available until the user deletes them, resets app data, or removes the app, where technically applicable. Support emails are retained only as long as needed unless legal retention duties apply.

Processing of personal data required to provide the app functions you request is based on Article 6(1)(b) GDPR. This includes active grilling sessions, settings, history, and the system features you use where those operations involve personal data.

If you contact us voluntarily, processing is based on Article 6(1)(b) GDPR where your request relates to a contract or pre-contractual steps; otherwise it is based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is responding to general enquiries and operating support securely. Statutory retention obligations may require processing under Article 6(1)(c) GDPR.
